1st Grade Target

April

The students have been enjoying our Leonardo da Vinci unit so much And I have some incredible news to share: the Mona Lisa has been returned to the Louvre! The French Government called me to let me know that my students' hard work has been rewarded with a successful conclusion! The students were so happy to know the work they did recreating the Mona Lisa for "missing posters" and the persuasive writings to the thieves was enough to encourage the return of this masterpiece. Thank you all for playing along.

In addition to this work, the students have also had some experience as Vermicomposters! They have observed and helped me maintain the classroom worm bin for the last couple weeks. They have become very attached to the worms and cannot wait for 2nd Grade Target when they get to learn even more about worm composting with an upcoming unit. We're having so much fun!

The next two weeks are half days. I've told the students, so they are aware of the schedule change. The Target teachers will be administering Kindergarten Gifted Eligibility evaluations during the first part of the morning. Our students will come to use around midday. You can read more details here.

The last day of Target is typically a couple weeks before the end of school. I'll update you when I know exactly when that will be, but at this moment it looks like it might be May 12 for my Thursday students and May 13 for the Friday kids.

I can see the video I loaded didn't process; I'll try it again.

We are planning an end-of-year celebration. It will NOT BE DURING SCHOOL HOURS. I'll let you know details when they're finalized, but please save the date for us: May 21.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do,

Target can be so much fun! This is how it went the day we made our "curiosity planes."

Jan. 20 & 21

The students and I worked on getting the Target Binder set up. Please see the note regarding set up if they need to finish it for homework. We did as much as we could in class. :)

In the binder, you'll find a welcome letter that details a lot about class. I'm sure you might have other questions, so feel free to reach out any time!

I'll post here weekly to update you.

Homework for Next Class Meeting:

  • Review, sign, and return the Target Tally
  • Get any supplies you don't have yet
  • Get your binder set up according to the direction sheet sent home
It was a pleasure working with your children this week! They are a great bunch of kids, and I can't wait to see what we get accomplished this semester!

Thank you for everything,
Ms. Zentner

1st Grade Target Begins Jan. 20 and Jan. 21!

Mrs. Agrinsoni, Mrs. Cooper, and Mrs. Schmidt's homeroom Target students will come to Target class on Thursdays.

All other 1st Grade Target students come to class on Fridays.

I will pick up the students the first couple of weeks so they know where to find my classroom. All students should have their supplies so we can set up our Target Binder and Brain Book on the first day. Please be sure to select a 1 1/2" binder with the sleeve on front and two pockets inside. We use all of that.

Water bottles are welcomed and encouraged. However, please send in ONLY WATER. Sugary drinks make our stuff sticky.

If you need anything, please feel free to reach out. I'm so excited for a great year!
